What to get the man in your life on a dance floor? Enrol in salsa classes!
Dancing with your partner is a great feeling but getting some men on a dance floor is difficult. Salsa classes are a great way for a couple to take up a hobby together and get to learn some great moves!

Salsa dancing is traditionally for couples and salsa classes are a great pastime for couples to get involved in. As beginners you can learn the basic steps together, supporting and encouraging each other as you get to grips with the combination of hip and feet movements.

Due to the popularity of Salsa dancing, classes have become very widely available in recent years. As the enthusiasm increases there is also a wider variety of class levels and styles on offer. Beginners can work through the basic level class and then move on to more advanced moves. Progressing and learning more steps is highly rewarding and particularly satisfying when you go with your partner. It is great to be able to dance in the class with someone you know, rather than being partnered with a stranger. Who better to dance with than you partner, as you probably know them best and are used to the way they move.

The other important benefit of attending classes with your partner is that you get to have a ready-made practice partner at home! Now just because they are there all the time, do not neglect to get some practice sessions in during the week before you return to the class. There is only so much a teacher can convey in the class itself. You need to practice and reinforce those moves to become more natural and fluid in your body. And just think of all the fun you will have trying to remember what the teacher said! Hopefully you don’t fall about laughing at each other’s feet and spend all your time saving your precious toes from being trampled upon in your own house.

Have a look at the choice of Salsa classes in your area, or even see if a more suitable class happens in a neighbouring area but at the weekend when you both might have more time to enjoy it. Some of the bigger classes take place in venues where people can stay on after the session and enjoy the social side too. After all, this is a dance class, and the whole point of dancing is to do it in a public place with others, so you can all enjoy it together. It is great to put the moves into practice in a more realistic setting. If you are beginners you will quickly see how fast Salsa music is, and probably how slow your feet and hips are shuffling along! Don’t panic, everyone has to start somewhere, and we all know practice is the key to success.

Find out if there is a social side available in conjunction with the classes. If not, maybe there are social nights arranged outside of the class situation, when you can get to practice and enjoy a night out. If all else fails you will just have to get that man out of the house and find an independent salsa venue. So get those hips and feet moving and get out and join a Salsa class now!
